Nyika

The Nyika Plateau stretches from the northeast of Zambia to Malawi. Nyika is also a language found in Zambia and Malawi. In Swahili the name means “bush. Nyika arrived in Livingstone in 2010 with her best friend Subi. Nyika is a very large lion compared to her enclosure mate Subi. She’s also highly affectionate, responds to her name being called, and loves nothing more than a head scratch from the handlers through the fence.
