His name means “old man”in Xhosa, an African language spoken in South Africa and Zimbabwe. Madoda has been at Livingstone since 2011. Perhaps what was most noticeable about Madoda in the early days was just how big his feet were! The clues were there that Madoda was going to be a big boy – and he is! Madoda is a fairly relaxed lion, enclosed with 5 female lions, who adore him. Madoda’s favourite girl though is Zambezi. They can often be found together, enjoying each other’s company, or squabbling!
